The past Problems of Separating Vermicompost before AVSA and the benefits of AVSA versus other methods

The problems that I encountered in the past are:

The weather was unpredictable, which made it rough on me and the earthworms, we (me and them) were frozen, rained on, burnt up in the summer sun and generally made to feel miserable. I did not perform to my optimum, nor did they....My performance suffered drastically, as did theirs, they did their part, as did I, but we were fighting a continually changing environment, with new challenges daily...that sapped our energy and depleted our resources.

The beds were under constant attack by pests, both the detrimental as well as "just pest" types. These pests (moles, birds, mice, insects, lizards, frogs, toads, spiders and everything else took their toll on the earthworms, as well as me. Many a time I opened the lid to find a field mouse pouncing out at me...plus numerous other critters. The obvious being, they were eating the earthworms, cutting the production of castings and worms both. They were also sending my heart a fluttering, seriously endangering my sanity....and health.

The Major Problem was the removing of the castings from the beds. This was being done partially successfully by the other growers. They were tumbling, rolling, shaking and waiting while one end of the bed dried out. Some were putting different types of feed on one end and a few days later, taking the feed with the adult worms out....but the babies and un-hatched egg capsules remained in the castings.

Some of the more industrious, hauled the entire bed out into the hot sun, (OH, my back) left it in the sunshine, scrapped off the different layers as the worms were stressed enough to go deeper down. The eggs remained in the layers being removed....The worms were stressed and so was the growers back...it worked to get worms to sell, but not for the castings.

So, what is the difference?

These AVSA Units (beds/bins) were designed to be used indoors, out of the weather.

The Pests are easily controlled and don't "eat their fill" at your expense. Saves on the blood pressure / stress level as well!

The castings (vermicompost) is quickly and easily removed through the front door, and the need to bend over and shovel is gone... just scoop it into a wheelbarrow and away you go.

With AVSA the worms and eggs are safely secured in a special compartment that keeps them safe and sound, where they are unharmed and unstressed by the entire process.

Since the AVSA units were designed to be stackable, the cost of indoor floor space quickly pays for itself, as do the units..

AVSA removes all of these past problems and promises a future full of solutions.
