AVSA is A Vermicompost Separating Answer to the question of how to get the vermicompost out of the red worms bins, (beds) without disrupting the red worms.The old process was to remove the red worms from the vermicompost, which was done in numerous ways, including, tumbling them and hopefully the worms would go one way and the bedding the other, except the baby worms and eggs went with the bedding. Then there was putting the entire bed into a wheelbarrow and pushing it to a large table in the sunshine, as the sun hit the worms they would go further down, until they were in a ball in the middle, the layers of bedding (and babies, eggs) were scraped off and sold, used.. AVSA solved the problem with a simple design that allows the bedding (vermicompost) to build up, when it reaches the ideal level, the bedding is removed through a convenient front door.AVSA can be built in two convenient sizes, a small AVSA that is suitable for a family of four and a large AVSA that can handle the avid gardener and all of their yard trimmings and garden refuge.
